STARDUST - THE STRATEGIC PROJECT ON TRANS-NATIONAL COMMERCIAL ACTIVITES IN RESEARCH & INNOVATION, CLUSTERS AND IN SME-NETWORKS
The purpose of the StarDust Clean Water project is to develop concept solutions for water protection with new and innovative technologies, products and services. The pilot case is to achieve EU level of the municipal waste water treatment plant Vodokanal in St.Petersburg. The audit of Vodokanal will be finished in the end of June -11. The piloted concept will then be multiplied in the surrounding countries of the Baltic Sea. The concept is a type of audition concept from which the expertise of the partners and different technologies benefit. The key focus of the pilot project is to commercialize new and innovative applications where water technology is combined with ICT which is the fastest growing area globally. The final outcome is to create a cluster for water treatment technology among the Baltic Sea countries. The cluster will be formed of international companies from the Baltic Sea region, which provide the best available technologies (BAT) globally.
In order to achieve this, a value chain/supply chain is created. By using this chain, SSSE can identify strengths and gaps. When the SSSE Swedish chain is then combined with the Finnish chain identified by Lahti Science and Business Park, strong and competitive co-operations are formed. With the academic input from the Institute of Oceanology of Polish Academy of Sciences in Poland and Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania, environmental focus areas and benefits can be selected, qualified and identified.
STInno - SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS AND TREATMENT IN INDUSTRIAL WASTE WATER
This project was initiated by Mercatus Finnish contacts in Lahti. The project is led by the Science Park in Lahti and Greece and Sweden are project partners. From Sweden is SSSE, Regional Council of Kalmar and Linnaeus University participating.
The project aims to map the field of industrial water treatment in order to find a Joint Action Plan to enhance regional competitiveness in the field. It is a need to develop new methods of treatment that can be used in the olive industry in the Mediterranean. The project started with a kick-off in January 2010.
The project is part of EU Seventh Framework.

ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY FOR THE POLISH MARKET
Business opportunities in Poland in terms of environmental technologies has increased significantly since the country’s EU entry. In order for Swedish enterprises to reach the export market often requires collaboration between several companies. To enter the Polish market there are also needs for networking, export promotion activities, training activities, seminars, exhibitions and in particular: physical presence. Therefore SSSE, since last year, have a staff member, Pawel Kuska, who works exclusively in promoting business opportunities between our Swedish companies and Poland. The goal is to export the know-how and the technology in environmental issues from companies in the southeastern Sweden to the Polish market.
